I would’ve left zero stars, but that was not an option. Terrible customer service. The last three times they serviced our pool we timed their technician and he was here less than 10 minutes on each of the three occasions. On the last visit he claimed he tested the pool water and added chemicals. We never saw him do that. On all three of the last visits, we took a sample of the pool water to a local pool store and had the water tested. His results were way off. We had to purchase chemicals on three separate occasions to bring the chemistry to where it needed to be. When we canceled service the owner promised us a refund for the last two visits, but what he actually did was charge our account for two more visits. Absolutely terrible Customer Service the owner didn’t seem to give a crap that he had provided us with bad service. Don’t waste your money go to a reliable pool service.

In response to the owners reply he is completely delusional. I never threatened to post a bad review, I never had any contact with him. Regarding the testing of the pool water my wife watched him like a hawk because we wanted to see if he tested the water and added chemicals. HE NEVER TESTED THE WATER, OR ADDEED CHEMICALS. He claims the chlorine level was 1 ppm. Our testing, and a reliable pool company’s testing, showed zero chlorine. He never tested the water and he never added chemicals. We know that for a fact. You are charging us for this service which was never performed. You can defend your actions as long as you want, but we know the honest truth about the lies and terrible service your company provided.
Response from the owner:Thank you for your feedback, David. I’d like to clarify a few points for transparency.

After you expressed dissatisfaction, you requested a full month’s refund and stated that if we didn’t comply, you would leave a negative review. Despite that, we still issued a refund for the visits that fell outside your paid cycle — specifically for the two visits we had not yet performed. We did not refund the visits that were already completed, as the work was done.

Regarding the service: our technician uses high-quality test strips on-site for quick, accurate readings. He does perform the test — it takes only a moment, which is likely why you didn’t notice. As for the pool’s condition, our records and the current state of your pool (which remains clean and well-balanced) confirm that proper care was provided.

We take all feedback seriously, but we do not respond to threats of bad reviews in exchange for refunds. We believe our refund was fair and based on actual services not rendered.

Wishing you the best with your new pool service.
I was pretty certain my pool needed a new motor and impeller, so I called a company my friend recommended....they responded immediately to help her during our last "dual" hurricane hit.
I was initially impressed by getting a guick return call from the owner of the company, then by his proposal to install a slightly used Hayward, variable speed unit , still under warranty for 33 more months of its 3 yr warranty! Install

It's rare to find service this reliable these days. I reached out to Corneliu at Pool Pal about a leak in my pool equipment, and he was out the next day to handle the repairs. He was extremely professional, courteous, and his craftsmanship is exceptional. If you’re looking for someone who actually shows up and does top-tier work, I’d recommend Corneliu to anyone in need of repairs.

They come every week at the same time. They send a report of what they did and chemicals added along with pictures.

2/27/25 Update: i have canceled my services. Nothing about their maintenance service was short of excellent but when it came to negotiating repairs i just didnt appreciate the way Corneliu dealt with me as an existing customer. I was trying to find a way to use different equipment of the same brands he was suggesting to lower the price but he was very abrasive and uninterested and only wanted to use the best and most expensive models. Which is always a plus for a customer as you would always want to be recommended the best equipment but thats just not what i wanted for a rental property. All in all i still recommend them but our conversation just ruined my relationship/experience with pool pal.

We first came across PoolPal from a rental property we stayed at. They were always on time, respected our privacy and kept the pool crystal clear 100% of the time. During the last hurricane, they went the extra mile to not only check on us but made adjustments to our chemicals from the downpour! Along with fixing any mechanical issues pool related- he was even kind enough to educated on any questions I had-you really can’t beat their customer service!! You won’t find that anywhere else! We loved their service so much that we carried them over to our new place and recommend them to ANYONE AND EVERYONE that has a pool! Highly recommend their services-you WONT be disappointed!!

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to commend an exceptional member of your team, Mike, whose actions on Thanksgiving Day demonstrated the very highest standards of character, professionalism, and community service.

While I was at a local laundromat, struggling with a severely damaged van door, Mike noticed my situation and offered to help. He asked for nothing, expected nothing, and simply said, “I saw a need and wanted to help.”

His manner was respectful, patient, knowledgeable, and sincere. He significantly improved the safety and security of the door — something I desperately needed but could not afford.

Mike also shared a bit of his personal background:
His father is a Vietnam veteran who came home carrying invisible wounds that made emotional connection difficult, yet his late mother—whom he deeply honors—raised him with compassion, integrity, and a heart to serve others. Her influence shines brightly through him.

    Employees like Mike are rare.
He represents Pool Pal Cleaners with honor, humility, and excellence.
I hope he is recognized — he truly deserves it.

    Sincerely,
    A grateful community member

Corneliu was just awesome … 10 stars if I could do that!! We’ve been trying to find a good pool guy and company for over 2 years and every one we’ve got was irresponsable, bad communication and unprofessional not to mention unfriendly… Cornelius was just amazing and 10 stars all around, fixed the problem that had been not fixed with the “other” pool for over 6 weeks in 2 hours and got pool and equipment running 100% right away! Not to mention super knowledgeable in ALL pool equipment and pool stuff! Can’t rave enough about Corneliu and his company Pool Pal! 😉
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Corneliu provided you with exceptional service and resolved your pool issues quickly and efficiently. It’s great to know that you found his expertise and friendly demeanor refreshing. Your satisfaction means a lot to us, and we appreciate you choosing Pool Pal!

    Pool Filter Cleaning in Clearwater

A swimming pool filter is an essential component of any pool, responsible for removing debris, dirt, and other contaminants from the water to keep it clean and clear. Over time, however, the filter can become clogged with dirt and debris, reducing its efficiency and potentially causing damage to the pool’s circulation system. Regular pool filter cleaning is necessary to ensure that the filter is functioning properly and maintaining a safe and healthy swimming environment.

There are three types of pool filters: sand, cartridge, and DE (diatomaceous earth). Each type of filter has its own unique maintenance requirements and cleaning methods.

Sand filters are the most common type of pool filter and are relatively easy to maintain. The filter consists of a tank filled with sand, which traps dirt and debris as the water passes through. Over time, the sand can become clogged with dirt and debris, reducing its efficiency and requiring the filter to be cleaned.

To clean a sand filter, the first step is to turn off the pump and release the pressure by opening the air release valve on the filter. Next, the filter should be backwashed, which involves reversing the flow of water through the filter to flush out the dirt and debris. The backwash process should continue until the water in the sight glass is clear and clean.

After backwashing, the next step is to rinse the filter, which involves running the water through the filter in the normal direction to settle the sand back into place. Once the filter is rinsed, the pump can be turned back on, and the filter should be ready for use.

Cartridge filters are another type of pool filter that requires regular cleaning. The filter consists of a cartridge made of pleated polyester, which traps dirt and debris as the water passes through. Over time, the cartridge can become clogged with dirt and debris, reducing its efficiency and requiring the filter to be cleaned.

To clean a cartridge filter, the first step is to turn off the pump and remove the cartridge from the filter. The cartridge should then be hosed down with a high-pressure hose to remove any dirt and debris. If the cartridge is very dirty, it can be soaked in a filter cleaner solution to help remove stubborn dirt and debris.

Once the cartridge has been cleaned, it should be rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry before being reinstalled in the filter. It is important to note that cartridges have a lifespan and should be replaced when they become too worn or damaged.

DE (diatomaceous earth) filters are the most complex type of pool filter and require the most maintenance. The filter consists of a tank filled with a powder made from fossilized diatoms, which traps dirt and debris as the water passes through. Over time, the powder can become clogged with dirt and debris, reducing its efficiency and requiring the filter to be cleaned.

To clean a DE filter, the first step is to turn off the pump and release the pressure by opening the air release valve on the filter. Next, the filter should be backwashed, which involves reversing the flow of water through the filter to flush out the dirt and debris.

After backwashing, the next step is to recharge the filter with fresh DE powder. This involves adding the powder to the skimmer, which then distributes the powder evenly throughout the filter. Once the filter is recharged, the pump can be turned back on, and the filter should be ready for use.

In addition to regular cleaning, it is also important to maintain the proper water chemistry in your pool to prevent the filter from becoming clogged with dirt and debris. Water that is too acidic or alkaline can cause the filter to become clogged, reducing its efficiency and requiring more frequent cleaning.
